Internships are a great way to “get your foot in the door;” they enhance your marketability and build professional skills. Most employers place special emphasis on hiring rising seniors and perhaps rising juniors. While it's possible for freshmen and sophomores to compete for internships, you should weight an internship against your other goals such as travel and study abroad.
