GSAS: CV and Cover Letter Preparation

It is never too early to begin putting together your CV, whether you plan to use it for applying to teaching fellow positions on campus, research opportunities, post-doctoral fellowships, or academic jobs.

To get started, take a look at our PDF Guide to Writing CVs and Cover Letters. We also have a PDF CVs for Scientists: Academia & Industry for students in the sciences.

Next, check out our program schedule for our CV and Cover Letter Workshop and Drop in CV Reviews.

If you cannot attend our group programs, consider meeting with a counselor to get feedback on your application materials. Please call 495-2595 (option 0) to schedule an appointment or check for current walk-in schedules.

Note that the OCS counselors are generalists, and work with all 50+ departments within GSAS. It is always a good idea to have your CV reviewed by someone in your department, ideally by a junior faculty member or postdoctoral fellow who has been on the job market within the last several years and is up to date on current trends in your discipline.
