Shireen Boulos, '95, (Psychology) traveled to Bucharest, Romania to assist World Vision International with its efforts to care for abandoned children living in state-run institutions. Jonathan Nelms, '96, (Russian Area Studies and Economics) was an intern at MosFilm Film Studio in Moscow, Russia. He assisted the filmmakers in a number of areas including sound editing and dialogue coaching and translation. Clare Sammels, '95, (Folklore and Mythology) went to La Paz, Bolivia to work with the Small Ruminant Collaborative Support Research Program. She assisted with a study of local attitudes towards eating llama meat. Maribel Tineo, '95, (Psychology and Biology/Anthropology) worked with the Volunteer and Information Alliance Program in Costa Rica. She assisted with exams and administrative tasks in a medical clinic, and helped run discussion groups and recreational activities for children, adolescents, and the elderly in the community. |
