only for competitions administered by the Fellowships Office at the Office of Career Services (OCS).
Competitions marked with an asterisk require House nomination, and House deadlines will be earlier than those indicated here—consult your House Fellowships Advisor about House procedures and deadlines.

Applicants for fellowships for travel or study abroad should also consult the relevant sections of the OCS web site, as well as resources in Section L (travel and work abroad) and the Annex (international university catalogs) of the OCS Reading Room.
Where to Find Applications
Applications for the Fulbright, Marshall endorsement, and Rhodes endorsement competitions are available through the summer months until closing dates shortly before their deadlines. Applications for the remaining fall competitions listed are available at the beginning of the fall semester until closing dates one working day before their deadlines. Unless noted, applications are available in the Fellowships Office at OCS— 54 Dunster Street in Cambridge.
Deadlines and Confidentiality
The Fellowships Office observes all deadlines strictly and without exception. Unless noted, deadlines fall at 12:00 noon on the date listed. All application materials submitted to the Fellowships Office become the property of the Fellowships Office and will not be released to applicants. All application materials are considered confidential and treated accordingly.
Inquiries/Appointments
Initial inquiries should be directed to your House Fellowships Advisor. The Fellowships Office staff is also generally available to answer questions by phone (495-8126) or on a walk-in basis throughout the work day. Fellowships Office counselors are also available for individual appointments—to set up an appointment, call OCS at 495-2595 and press “0.”

BRITISH MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Marshall Scholarships provide for two or three years of postgraduate education in any participating British university. U.S. citizenship and a cumulative college GPA of 3.7 on a four-point scale are required. Applicants should have well conceived plans of study in their designated university.
University endorsement is required. Endorsement applications are available in the Fellowships Office through Sept 7.

Rhodes Scholarships provide for one to three years of postgraduate education at Oxford University. Applicants should have well conceived study plans, as well as records of extracurricular achievement.

FULBRIGHT GRANTS
Fulbright Grants provide for one year of postgraduate study in nearly any field in nearly any country outside the U.S. Fulbright teaching assistantships are currently offered in eight countries. Fulbright travel grants supplement project funding in three countries. U.S. citizenship is required for each. The Fellowships Office administers this competition only for current seniors. Candidates must submit a draft proposal to gain access to the online application. Application instructions are available in the Fellowships Office through (Fri), Sept 14.

CHURCHILL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Churchill Scholarships provide funding toward a year of postgraduate study and research in the natural sciences, engineering, or mathematics at Churchill College, Cambridge (consult the Churchill Scholarships handbook, available in the Fellowships Office, for more details on eligible fields). U.S. citizenship is required. Harvard's competition is for University nomination to the national round.
Applicants must take the GRE ASAP to assure Churchill Foundation score receipt by early December.

MERAGE FOUNDATION FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM FELLOWSHIP NOMINATIONS
The
Merage Foundation Fellows Program awards immigrants to the United States $10,000 per year for two years to use in fostering education, traveling, securing mentors, and supporting internships. Applicants must be graduating seniors who have either become U.S. citizens since coming to the United States or hold a Permanent Resident Card. Harvard’s competition is for University nomination to the national round.

MICHAEL C. ROCKEFELLER MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIPS
Rockefeller Fellowships fund a year of purposeful postgraduate travel in a foreign country for candidates at critical stages in their development who feel a need for a new and broadening experience.
House nomination is not required—nonetheless, candidates must contact their House Fellowships Advisors well before the College deadline for information on the fellowship and personal suitability.

BRITISH UNIVERSITIES POSTGRADUATE AWARDS
The
Henry Fellowship provides for a year of postgraduate study in any field at either Oxford or Cambridge Universities. Applicants should have well conceived plans of study as well as ambassadorial qualities. U.S. citizenship is required.
Knox Fellowships provide for a year of postgraduate study at any university in the British Commonwealth. Applicants should have well conceived plans of study. U.S. citizenship is required.
The
Herchel Smith Harvard Scholarship (non-science) provides for a year of postgraduate study in any non-science field at Cambridge University, and may be continued for one or two years contingent on satisfactory degree progress.
The
von Clemm Fellowship provides for a year of postgraduate study in any field at Oxford University. Applicants should have well conceived plans of study as well as ambassadorial qualities. Recipients will live in Corpus Christi College, as arranged by the fellowship.
Proof of independent university application is required at the time of application for this pool of fellowships.

BEINECKE SCHOLARSHIPS
Beinecke Scholarships provide $2,000 in scholarship assistance for the senior year of college and $30,000 in scholarship assistance for graduate study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences (excluding neurosciences). JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarships provide up to $50,000 a year for up to six years for graduating seniors and recent graduates to pursue a graduate degree in the U.S. Funding levels and duration will be determined by student need, cost of attendance, length of program, and other factors. Candidates must be current seniors or have graduated since
May 2003, be accepted to or plan to be accepted to an accredited graduate degree program to begin studies in the fall, and have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA on a four-point scale. Harvard's competition is for College nomination to the national round.

MORRIS K. UDALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Udall Scholarships provide sophomores or juniors with $5,000 in tuition assistance for the following year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or nationals, and fall into one of two categories: (1) those with career interests in environmental public policy and related fields, or (2) Native Americans/Alaska Natives with career interests in health care or tribal public policy. ARTIST DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIPS
Artist Development Fellowships are awarded to support student development in the practice of the arts. Competition is open to all currently enrolled undergraduates, and projects must ordinarily be completed prior to graduation. The Council may occasionally make exceptions for projects that are to be undertaken immediately following graduation, although current undergraduates will be given priority. The number and amount of individual awards will vary each year according to available funds and project budgets. Awards will likely range from $1,000 to $5,000.

GABRIEL PIEDRAHITA MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP
The
Piedrahita Memorial Fellowship commemorates the aspirations of Gabriel Piedrahita '96 to invigorate intellectual discourse on Colombian history, politics, and culture. Open to current non-Colombian sophomores and juniors, the fellowship provides support for a summer, semester, or longer period of study or purposeful intellectual exploration in Colombia. Ambassadorial qualities and a genuine interest in Colombia are important selection criteria.

STOWE AND MILLFIELD SCHOOL FELLOWSHIPS
The
Stowe Fellowship provides for a year of postgraduate work as a teaching fellow at the Stowe School in England. The
Millfield Scientist-in-Residence Fellowship provides for a year of postgraduate work as a teaching fellow at the Millfield School in England. Both provide room, board, and a living stipend; duties include teaching, extracurricular, and residential responsibilities. Graduating seniors are eligible. For the Millfield Fellowship, candidates must have a degree or equivalent background in mathematics, natural science, or physical science. Harvard's competition is for nomination to the respective schools, where final decisions are made.

JOHN PATTERSON TRAVELING FELLOWSHIP
The John Thomas
Patterson Traveling Fellowship provides approximately $2,000 to fund summer or holiday travel to Italy. The award is intended to introduce Italy to a student who has little familiarity with the country and to fund travel that would not otherwise happen. The travel undertaken should be intellectually purposeful and personally enriching but need not contribute to an academic project. Competition is open to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are not Italian citizens and who have not lived in Italy; there is a preference for Mather House residents and affiliates.

SPRING POSTGRADUATE TRAVELING FELLOWSHIPS *
Gardner Fellowships provide a year of purposeful postgraduate travel for Harvard students to supplement their formal education through immersion in a foreign culture.
Shaw Fellowships provide a year of purposeful postgraduate travel in Europe for Harvard students to supplement their formal education. Application is now open to men and women.
Sheldon Prize Fellowships provide for a year of purposeful postgraduate travel abroad, to foster meaningful intellectual and personal development. Candidates must have a Harvard GPA of 3.47 or better.
Trustman Fellowships provide for a year of purposeful postgraduate travel abroad for candidates who feel a need for new and broadening experience and who also promise meaningful contributions to society.

ALEX G. BOOTH '30 FUND FELLOWSHIPS
Booth Fund Fellowships help to defray the cost of travel, tuition, or other appropriate expenses for travel to a country or countries related to the recipient's field of interest, either during the academic year or during the following summer. Applicants must be juniors or seniors. One application places the candidate in consideration for all suitable awards.

SUMMER RESEARCH TRAVEL GRANTS FOR INTERNATIONAL CENTERS AT HARVARD
Several of the University's international research centers will use a
common application this spring for their undergraduate and graduate summer research travel grants. Participating centers include the Asia Center, Center for European Studies, Center for International Development, Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Committee on African Studies, Committee on Human Rights Studies, Davis Center for Russian Studies, Fairbank Center for East Asian Studies, Korea Institute, Real Colegio Complutense, Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, South Asia Initiative, Ukrainian Research Institute, and Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Michael Christian Fellowships provide $2,500 for a summer of purposeful travel in a foreign culture for sophomores or juniors. The
Anton Segal Fellowship provides $2,500 for a summer of purposeful travel in a foreign culture (outside of Western Europe ) for sophomores or juniors interested in writing about their experience. Neither will fund formal research or academic work, but each aims to foster experiences that might not otherwise be possible. *

The Laura
Houghteling Memorial Fellowship commemorates the aspirations of Laura Houghteling '92 to contribute to the teaching professions. The fellowship provides funding for student loan repayment to support aspiring teachers in pursuit of their education or profession. Applicants must be graduating seniors on financial aid.

CARL AND LILY PFORZHEIMER FOUNDATION PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIPS
Pforzheimer Fellowships provide funding for public service projects in the U.S. or abroad, during a leave of absence or after graduation. Projects must be at least four months in duration, which may include portions of the academic year. Preference is shown for projects with direct personal impact. Grants usually range from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on project length and budgetary need. Application is limited to juniors and seniors.

ELLIOT AND ANNE RICHARDSON FUND FELLOWSHIPS IN PUBLIC SERVICE
The Elliot and Anne
Richardson Fellowships provide funding for outstanding students contemplating a career in public service to pursue a year of concrete experience with, and understanding of, the sort of problem or issue their contemplated public service would address. The fellowships are intended primarily for graduating seniors for 9 to 12 months of practical experience before beginning work or graduate school; in unusual circumstances graduate or professional students may also be eligible. Projects may entail either a year-long commitment to an organization or a series of related shorter-term commitments. Recipients may combine this award with other awards with the approval of the selection committee.

PUBLIC SERVICE GRANTS (Harmon, Ho, Lamont, Lee, Pforzheimer Summer, and Ritland)
Public Service Grants fund primarily domestic public service projects for various amounts of time, usually during the summer. Selection committees strongly favor domestic projects. One fund supports proposals specifically for experiential learning in spirituality and healing; another supports proposals specifically in public interest health policy. Financial need may be considered among selection criteria. Location, timing, and eligibility stipulations vary with each grant. One application places the candidate in consideration for all suitable awards.

STEINER COMMUNITY SERVICE FUND GRANTS
Steiner Community Service Fund Grants support public service projects in the United States and overseas during the summer or during the academic year. Undergraduates who will be returning to Harvard in the fall are eligible; financial need is not a selection criterion. Preference is given to projects that are novel or creative in their approach.
