Working in these fields...
In entertainment management, it's possible to combine an interest in business with a passion for sports, fashion, entertainment or media. While certainly connected to the performance/content/creative side of the organization, opportunities in administration or operations focus mainly on day-to-day activities—establishing and maintaining systems and processes that form the framework within which content is managed and delivered. This might include strategic planning, production, sales, human resources, finance and accounting, marketing, or public relations. Firms such as ESPN, Random House, Polo Ralph Lauren and Abercrombie and Fitch actively participate in OCS programs including workshops, the Career Forum and perhaps on-campus interviews. Other firms such as Sony, Warner Brothers, MTV, Conde Nast, the NBA and NFL are less visible on campus but offer comparable opportunities.

Showing that you are aware of the business nature of the industry in the application process will help you be a serious candidate. Remember that fashion, film, media, sports and music are businesses with profit and loss responsibilities similar to any other enterprise. Even public broadcasting or other not-for-profit media must balance their budgets by producing commercially successful products and services.
